Although I didn’t know him well, Ryan left a lasting impression.
The first time Audra and I met him was at the McDonalds in the Kam shopping center. Audra was selling her iPod Touch and he was interested in it, so we arranged to meet up. I remember that he was really thankful that we sold it at such a good price. We were happy that it went to someone who could use it. He loved that thing.
Ryan was everywhere, all the time. An active biker and runner, we’d randomly spot him doing his errands or passing through one of the craft fairs we were attending. He’d always stop by and say “hello.”
Once when Audra tweeted about the passing of one of her relatives, Ryan sent a card of condolence without even knowing who her relative was. He was that kind of guy.
This past Friday, Audra and I went to Kissaten for the first time. Ryan loved the place and tweeted more than once that he’d live there if it had a shower. The first thing I did when I walked in was scan the place to see if Ryan was there. He wasn’t. During our time there, I half expected to see him walk in, sit down at a table plug his laptop in and start planning out tomorrows agenda.
Ryan, thank you for the love and joy you brought to everyone who knew you. I know you’ve got the perfect spot at the Kissaten in the sky.
