Artist to Follow: Rie Shimada

There’s something about Japanese architecture that I’ve always loved. Tokyo-based illustrator Rie Shimada captures the beauty of Japanese cityscapes through simple, delightful lines and shapes combined with a beautifully chosen color palette for each piece.

According to her bio, Shimada graduated from Waseda University’s Graduate School of Creative Science and Engineering, Department of Architecture, in 2019. I really enjoy how she combines her mastery of architecture with graphic design.
