Keeping Up With Twitter Via RSS Feeds

I’ve been using RSS feeds to get updates from a few Twitter accounts that don’t have Mastodon accounts (yet). I find that by doing this, I spend almost no time on the Twitter website. The web services Nitter and OpenRSS are able to create RSS feeds without Twitter API access. Finding RSS feeds using these services is easy.

Nitter:

  • Go to https://nitter.net/<username> (replace <username> with the Twitter handle you want an RSS feed for). This will bring up the page with the Twitter feed. Click the RSS icon, and it will generate an RSS feed for download.

OpenRSS:

  • Go to https://openrss.org/twitter.com/<username> (replace <username> with the Twitter handle you want an RSS feed for). This should automatically generate an RSS feed for downloading.

I haven’t really spent much time on Twitter since they removed API access for third-party apps. I’ll continue to cross-post from micro.blog to Twitter as long as they have that feature.
